Traffic Recognition
TREC, a line of software products, is designed for traffic monitoring, management and analysis in telecommunications and IP data networks.

TREC includes four major components: TREC.SDK, a developer library for DPI-based traffic analysis; TREC.Analyser and TREC.MDH software products for traffic monitoring, management, storage and analysis; hardware/software platforms for traffic processing at bandwidths of up to 10 Gbps, 80 Gbps and 600 Gbps; Professional Services, consulting services related to DPI technology and its use.

Peter-Services offers a broad range of consulting services related to DPI-based traffic processing and storage, including technical consulting, pre-project studies, equipment configuration, drafting of design and tender documentation, customization of software to meet the requirements of a particular customer.

Components

TREC.SDK
Recognizes application-layer protocols and extracts metadata (attributes) from them; designed for use by developers in their own software
TREC.MDH
Collects, stores and analyzes IP traffic statistics; supports archiving: after several months, during which data remains available, it moves the data to archive storage
TREC.Analyser
Captures the structure of network traffic and analyzes traffic consumed by subscribers to ensure effective utilization of network resource
Hardware/Software Solutions
Hardware/software solutions for traffic processing at bandwidths of up to 10 Gbps, 80 Gbps and 600 Gbps

Benefits

TRANSPARENCY

No undocumented features

STANDARD EQUIPMENT

Using only standard server equipment and network cards

PERFORMANCE

High performance (a single 1U server handles inbound traffic at no less than 10 Gbit/s in duplex mode)

SCALABILITY

Linear scalability in terms of performance and data storage duration

COST REDUCTION

No third-party software means no extra fees to third-party vendors

VIRTUALIZATION

Can be deployed in a virtual environment (Virtual Network)

Features

  • Recognizes about 400 widely used protocols
  • Detects application-layer protocols (L7)
  • Separates transport-layer protocols (L4)
  • Extracts metadata from application-layer protocols
  • Analyzes traffic to determine the protocol or service involved
  • Uses DPI technology to analyze not only IP packet headers but also the contents (payload) of a series of packets for extracting the identifying attributes of a given protocol
  • Manages traffic to ensure optimal network resource utilization
  • Specialized services, such as Secure Internet
  • Filters information; restricts access to network resources; provides antivirus functionality
  • Extracts metadata from L4-L7 network protocols based on administrator-defined rules
  • Filters traffic; generates a description of the traffic it is monitoring and the results of its analysis in NetFlow 9
  • Collects and keeps IP traffic statistics
  • Protocol and service-specific traffic monitoring
  • Data storage duration is limited only by the available disk space
  • Radius and TACACS support; mobile operators also get access to subscriber data from the GTP signaling flow
  • Collects and analyzes IP traffic in data networks, including application-layer protocol detection and metadata extraction (e.g. HTTP URL)
  • Analyzes authorization information and links subscriber data and authorization sessions to IP traffic statistics
  • Executes search requests across the IP traffic statistics available in the storage
  • TREC.ANALYSER and TREC.MDH scale linearly as the input flow grows or the data storage duration increases
  • Interoperates with external systems via an open API
  • Supports IPv4 and IPv6
