The system for management of areas the home zone PETER-SERVICE HZS can be used by mobile operators to apply preferential tariffs to outgoing calls (including voice calls, SMS, etc.) made at a certain location by the subscribers who activated the Home Zone service and defined this particular location as their home zone. The data on the subscribers’ location is retrieved automatically. The system provides the subscribers with a self-service for managing their home zones: they need nothing but their handset to customize the service they are using.
At present most subscribers can get discounts on their call charges only if they activate special rating options. While the Home Zone service implemented on the basis of PETER-SERVICE HZS helps the subscribers get discounted tariffs for outgoing calls made in a zone (i.e. a geographic area) they specify themselves. To enable/disable or modify the Home Zone settings, the subscribers even do not have to contact the Customer Service of the operator – they can do everything on their own. The Home Zone service provided with the help of PETER-SERVICE HZS is available for both contract and prepaid subscribers.
The Home Zone service settings (specifying the geographic area where discounted calls can be made) as well as the service activation/deactivation are regulated by the special applet built into the user SIM card. The applet can activate and deactivate the service and determine the subscriber location every 20 to 40 seconds, with the relevant location information regularly sent to the system in SMS or USSD messages.
- Registration, modification and deletion of home zones;
- Registration of the subscriber entering or leaving the home zone;
- Monitoring of the information on the subscriber location;
- Re-registration of the home zone in case of change of the subscriber’s MSISDN;
- Change of the subscriber’s IMSI; re-registration of the home zone in case of change of the subscriber’s IMSI;
- Activation/deactivation of the Home Zone service;
- Automatic tracking of the subscriber’s location.
- With the product, the operator can track the subscriber’s movements (and register the events of the subscriber entering or leaving the home zone) in the real time mode;
- The subscribers can get discounts in the real time mode and make calls at discounted rates as soon as they get into the home zone. This helps to avoid any financial losses on their part as well as on the part of the operators who, due to the real time mode, do not have to re-rate the calls afterwards, based on the received information of the subscriber’s presence/ absence in the home zone at a certain time in the past;
- As the mechanism of the home zone creation has become very flexible and user-friendly, home zones can now be set not only for groups of subscribers but for each subscriber in particular;
- The subscribers are given an opportunity to define home zones with the most preferential call rates. They can create new zones and delete the existing ones whenever they want to, which makes this service very appealing and enhances the operator’s competitiveness in the telecommunications market;
- The subscribers can use the most specific home zone settings and then modify them (thus the subscribers can specify their own location more exactly). If a home zone is not defined correctly, it can be quickly and easily modified without being deactivated;
- The service is very user-friendly – it can be managed by SMS/USSD commands and monitored with the help of special signals which notify about the subscriber’s entering/leaving a home zone;
- The operator can get regular reports on the subscriber’s location and change the rates applied to the calls whenever the subscriber enters or leaves a home zone;
- The data on the subscriber’s home zone is preserved even in case the subscriber’s number or SIM card is changed.
